SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 16, 2024 Assemblyman Bill Essayli issued the following statement after Elon Musk announced he will relocate the headquarters of X and SpaceX to Texas after Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1955:

“Elon Musk pointed to Governor Newsom signing AB 1955 yesterday as the ‘final straw’ that pushed him to relocate SpaceX and X to Texas, and I don’t blame him. Radical gender ideologues who control our State Capitol cost us thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue–and they show no sign of stopping.”

“Democrats in Sacramento are to blame for the ongoing attack on families, businesses, and common sense across California. I have committed my tenure in the Legislature to fight against the radical Democrat agenda that is pushing leaders like Elon Musk to leave our once Golden State. We must restore common sense in Sacramento.”

BACKGROUND
Parental rights have been under attack by the California Legislature which prompted Assemblyman Essayli to author AB 1314 to ensure parents are aware if their child requests to change their gender on official school records. Legislative Democrats refused to hear AB 1314 and Attorney General Bonta responded by suing school districts across the state to keep secrets from parents. AB 1955 codifies the authority of the government to keep secrets from parents.

Assemblyman Bill Essayli represents the 63rd Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the whole cities of Norco, Menifee, Lake Elsinore, and Canyon Lake, as well as portions of the cities of Eastvale, Riverside, and Corona.
